Spring Is in the Air
While I wait for you to book a pretzel event with us wink, let’s take in the fresh air! The birds and bees are fluttering about, and there’s so much pollen that every car is slightly green- tis the season for spring cleaning!
The Origins of Spring Cleaning
Did you know that “Spring Cleaning” as we know it today can be traced back to multiple cultures?
Some researchers trace it back to the Iranian Nowruz, aka the Persian New Year (which occurs on March 20th), when the common practice of khaneh tekani takes place. This practice requires that every single thing in one’s house is thoroughly cleaned!
You’ll also find origins in Judaism due to the Jewish practice of cleansing homes in preparation for the springtime festival of Passover (which falls on different dates depending on the year, but always either in March or April). During Passover, Jews are advised to rid their homes of any remnants of chametz for the length of the holiday, which naturally brings about a spring cleaning.
While we are talking about religious origins, Christians, historically, have cleaned their homes before Easter. There is also a Catholic tradition where everything associated with the Catholic church altar is meticulously cleaned the day before Good Friday in the spring!

Have A Maintenance Journal
Whenever and however you accomplish your spring cleaning, make a note of things you see around your home that will need to be actually fixed. Like a squeaky door, peeling paint, wobbly toilet, etc. This will help you prioritize and stick to just cleaning!
Break It Up!
Spring cleaning can seem like a monstrous task to take on- but it does not have to be that way!
Plan to clean one room at a time or even just one section a day. This can ease the stress of getting everything done asap!
Don’t Forget Your Ceiling Fans and Shower Curtains!
In my opinion, these are 2 of the most frequently forgotten items to clean, and yet they are pillars of one’s everyday routine! Ensuring there’s no dust collection on your fans really saves your sinuses, and a clean shower curtain is the best kind!
