Sweet History, Sweeter Deal: Celebrate National Apple Day with Us!
At The Popcorn Lady, we’re all about celebrating the little things, and National Apple Day on October 21st is one of our favorite fall traditions. Started in 1990, National Apple Day was created to celebrate the richness and diversity of apples, as well as the environmental importance of orchards. It’s since grown into a worldwide appreciation for this crisp, sweet fruit that’s been a staple in cultures for centuries. Fun fact: the average American eats about 16 pounds of apples each year!
Apples have been cultivated for thousands of years. but it wasn’t until the early 1900s that the candy apple was invented by a Newark, New Jersey candy-maker named William Kolb, who accidentally created the now-famous red glazed apple as a holiday window display. Shortly after, caramel apples made their debut in the 1950s, when a Kraft Foods salesman experimented with leftover Halloween caramels. These sweet inventions have become autumn icons ever since.
To join in the celebration, we’re offering 15% off all candy and caramel apples throughout the month of October.
